PDIH UNISSULA Head Serves as External Dissertation Examiner at Al-Azhar University

Cairo, August 2, 2025 – The Head of the Doctoral Program in Law (PDIH) at UNISSULA's Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Anis Masdurohatun, S.H., M.Hum., had the honor of serving as an external examiner for a dissertation defense at Al-Azhar University's Faculty of Sharia and Law. This involvement is part of strengthening cooperation and international academic networks while demonstrating PDIH UNISSULA academics' contribution to the development of legal and Islamic legal scholarship at the global level.
The dissertation defense was held at Al-Azhar University's Faculty of Sharia and Law in Egypt, with an examination board providing assessment and academic input on the dissertation submitted. In the forum, Prof. Dr. Anis Masdurohatun served as an external examiner to assess the substance and scholarly argumentation of the dissertation research.
The dissertation examined was titled "Sharia Banking Financing Instruments in Indonesia – A Study of Contemporary Banking Fiqh," written by Abdullah Fath Muhammad Ishaq, a student from Indonesia. The examination took place in a serious and scholarly academic atmosphere, with the examiners paying close attention to the study of sharia banking financing and contemporary fiqh perspectives.
Prof. Dr. Anis Masdurohatun's involvement in the examination is expected to further strengthen PDIH UNISSULA's internationalization and expand its academic network with Al-Azhar University. The presence of UNISSULA academics in international academic forums is also a strategic step to encourage scholarly exchange, research collaboration, and the development of legal and Islamic legal studies between Indonesia and Egypt.
