PDIH UNISSULA Holds Community Service in Kendal, Discusses Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers

Kendal, October 29, 2025 – The Doctoral Program in Law (PDIH) at UNISSULA carried out a community service activity in Kendal Regency under the theme "Empowerment and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers from a Legal and Human Rights Perspective." This activity was carried out as a form of academic concern for the issues faced by Indonesian migrant workers, particularly in raising awareness of their rights, legal protection, and the importance of understanding the potential risks they face. The community service activity was carried out through presentations and interactive discussions with the community. Participants gained an understanding of the legal and human rights aspects of migrant worker protection, including the importance of knowing their rights and obligations before, during, and after working abroad. The forum also served as a space for dialogue on various issues related to migrant workers from a legal perspective. The activity took place in an educational and participatory atmosphere. Participants enthusiastically followed the presentation and actively raised questions and shared experiences related to migrant worker issues. The interaction between the PDIH UNISSULA team and the community made the activity not only informative but also a means of directly understanding the needs and challenges faced by the community. Through this activity, PDIH UNISSULA hopes to make a real contribution to increasing legal awareness and understanding of human rights among migrant workers and the community. The activity is also expected to encourage stronger protection for Indonesian migrant workers and strengthen the role of universities in providing solutions to legal issues developing in society.
